Maungakaramea School has provided quality education for the children in our engaging learning environment for over 145 years. We offer our students and families a supportive, responsive learning space. Students, staff and parents work together to create an environment where all are valued and each is challenged.
Our school upholds traditional values and provides rich learning experiences for our students. At Maungakaramea School, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy and secure. They are able to grow and mature in a safe, creative and holistic environment that is constantly changing to meet their needs. We deliver a well-rounded literacy and numeracy curriculum that is complimented with hands on learning experiences.
Maungakaramea school’s vision is ‘Growing our Future’. We do this by providing our students the best possible opportunities to develop intellectually, physically, creatively, and socially. We cater to these needs through structured literacy and numeracy programmes, project based and inquiry learning, and opportunities to explore the world around them through our Enviroschools programme. We also take part in various sporting opportunities throughout Maungakaramea and Whangarei.
Our school has a long and rich relationship with the Maungakaramea community. We actively look for opportunities to involve and be involved in our local environment and enjoy opportunities to have parents/caregivers, whānau and wider community come on-site and participate.
